Fashion, Lifestyle, and Technology - How Do They Intersect?

Rechelle Balanzat CEO and Founder of Juliette, recently sat down for an interview with Emily Wriston Founder of LUXE PR AGENCY on how fashion, lifestyle, and technology intersect.

R: What is fashion technology?

E: Fashion technology is the intersection between fashion and technology. It's the application of cutting-edge technology to provide new ways to shop, sell, educate, and experience fashion, as well as their applications in fashion manufacturing, transportation, lifestyle, and retail.

E: Tell us more about Juliette and where the idea of using hybrid AI for your company came from?

R: Juliette is a lifestyle company. We like to think of ourselves as sitting at the intersection of fashion, lifestyle, and technology. Our service is simple & straightforward - we’ll pick up, clean, and deliver your clothes within 24 hours with a tap of a button. We launched our app on the app store in 2014. And we were really one of the first in the laundry and dry cleaning industry to develop this technology. Fast forward to 2021, and clients are app fatigued. They don’t want to download another app, they don’t want to remember another password. So I introduced the idea of leveraging a hybrid AI experience, which is part native app experience, part SMS experience. As a result, our clients have a much more seamless experience.  They’re communicating with us on their terms - through an app, or through text.

R: How is technology changing the Fashion PR industry? 

E: Without a doubt, technology has revolutionized how we live. As a result, lifestyle brands must now rely on technology to display their human side. The only way for a business to remain in today's market is to have a well-developed website and an immediate consumer relationship.

E: In your opinion do you think AI has influenced the lifestyle industry? 

R: Lifestyle brands aim to elevate ideals, aspirations, or an aesthetic. So when I think of a successful lifestyle brand, one of the reasons behind its success is because it was able to embody the interests, aspirations, and motivations of its customers, and that’s what separates it from competitors.  

Juliette clients are busy New Yorkers. They work hard, they play hard, and they wanna look good while they do it. They don’t have a lot of time, so convenience and consistency is paramount.

We use technology and AI to anticipate their needs and desires. Our new tech release reflects our belief that people are app fatigued, and do not want to be bothered with downloading and registering.  

R: What do you think the future holds for the fashion, lifestyle, and technology industries?

E: Changing trends have a big influence on the fashion, lifestyle, and tech industries, basically it's always changing and going to keep changing. To stay ahead of the competition and stay relevant in this ever-changing business, brands must be able to predict new trends and influence consumer perception to be the first to implement them.
