Dirty Laundry Secret - Drop Your Pants Here.

Like any hip, modern laundry and dry cleaning service, we have a sign that says “Drop Your Pants Here.”

Clear? Yes. Creative? Sure. 

But I guess I didn’t think of how clear this directive was. Here’s what I mean. 

So, it was just another day, which meant another person’s laundry day and I was up and at ‘em. If I’m not, who is?

Anyways, the dryers are rumbling with separate loads and I let it fill the silence as I work on pressing a different client’s clothing — pants to be specific.

Behind me is a minimal, but neon sign that reads “Drop Your Pants Here”; I smiled as I glanced at the Etsy-made sign and as I was going to continue to work, the bell hung above the door rings.. 

“Good morning” my regular said with a smile. “Do you hem pants?”

“Yes!” I smiled back, nodding my head.

“Great,” he said.

We both smiled at each other. His pants were grey slacks that seemed a bit too baggy. He was thin, and it was clear how thin he was wearing those pants.

There were no further words exchanged and right before I was going to open the conversation again — he dropped his pants.

Yes, almost quite literally. He took off his pants and handed it to me. I thought this guy was going to go and get the pants or use the JULIETTE app to schedule a pick up, but nope, he went right to it.

He handed me the inside out pants while I grabbed it with caution.

“Ummm,” I said, holding the pants with only about three fingers. “I’ll mark it and fit it for you, but I’m not going to do it right now,” I laughed awkwardly, but laughing awkwardly didn’t even match the actual awkwardness. 
“Oh,” he said, putting his hands up. “No problem! I can just…” he looked around, almost like he slowly realized he was pants-less. “Wait here,” he smiled.

“O-Okay,” I didn’t expect him to stay like this… “Here, I pulled up a black chair. “Take a seat,” I motioned.

So now, here I was — just me, loads of laundry and a pants-less customer.
