Get Dirty with Us - How to Clean Delicate Clothing.
The work week is over and the weekend is here! Yay! Friday night happy hour turns into Saturday brunch with your girls, then turns into Sunday self care. You have the weekend all planned out or so you thought…Saturday at brunch one of your friends spilled her bloody mary all over your Alexander McQueen black lace bustier top. OMG! Now what do I do?!?!
We got you covered here at Juliette!
Before we pick up your garment for cleaning, you want to take care of the stain right away...so here's how.
Pre-treat the Stain Immediately
Stains on clothing should never be left untreated, and pre-treatment as soon as they appear can help keep them from becoming permanent. As soon as you notice a stain on your garment, immediately rinse it with clean water. Place the paper towel or absorbent cloth over the stained spot and dab it with water from behind. It's possible that it will seep into the paper towel instead of your garment.
Soak
Soaking can help remove stains from damaged or soiled materials. In order to soak, you need to completely submerge the garment in water and leave it there for several hours or even a whole day in room temperature water. Fibers can swell and warp out of place if you don't soak the entire thing. A soak can weaken and break up stains, making subsequent stain treatments easier and faster.
Lay Flat to Dry
Tumbling around in a hot dryer can harm delicate and expensive clothing, therefore air-drying is frequently required. While some delicates can be hung, for the most part, it's best to lay them flat to prevent creases, dimples, and wrinkles. As long as it allows for airflow underneath the clothing, you may use anything from a slotted drying rack to a futon frame to dry flat. To ensure uniform drying, turn clean items around every 30 minutes.
